Terms

The following information is provided in relation to The Peace Gap website, hereby known as ‘the service’. Anyone requesting information about/receiving/accessing or using this website is hereby known as ‘the service user’ or referred to as ‘your’ or ‘you’.

The service may include products, websites, videos, social media posts, workshops as well as contact with the service provider (all generally referred to as ‘content’). This service may be withdrawn at any time.

While information is researched and designed to stay up to date, The Peace Gap is ultimately an opinion website and content is provided only as food for thought. It does not aim to give or imply any legal or medical advice, or that this opinion is the only opinion.

Similarly, The Peace Gap does not claim or pretend to represent all communities, though it hopes to display cultural sensitivity and an intersectional perspective to these conversations and challenges.

It recognises that these discussions can feel nuanced and at times seem complex. The Peace Gap therefore actively encourages people to create content close to their heart, in a compassionate and nonviolent way, especially if these pages do not represent their needs. By the very nature of The Peace Gap and the value it upholds, compassionate inquiry is welcome, abuse is not.

Content

Every effort has been made to accurately represent content and ensure that information provided is accurate and up-to-date.

Whilst it is hoped that content is widely suitable, people with different views please take responsibility for any decision made to independently use or access this service, and check suitability as you would when making any other kind of investment in time or money. Everyone is different and no guarantee of any specific results can be given.

The content is not a replacement for medical or legal advice. If you have any concerns about your health and wellbeing, or legal rights please consult a suitably qualified professional.

Providing information about products, concepts or third-party services simply means they may be of interest or noteworthy, not that the content or the author of third party content is endorsed.

Where the service provider makes suggestions, offers opinion or makes recommendations, this is done in an advisory capacity only e.g. to raise awareness of it and encourage consideration or food for thought. All information is open to individual interpretation. Any decision to use information or content offered by the service, is the responsibility of the service user who, in accessing or using any services offered by the service provider, accepts these terms and conditions.

The service provider is not responsible for any unauthorised usage of these products, or decisions made by the client in relation to their use (or where relevant) purchase, or any misinterpretation of information included.

Any content that may be provided with compliments (eg. free of charge) are included in these terms and are not exchangeable for any monetary value.

Use of the service, provision of handouts and workbooks, or any donations offered to the service provider in recognition of that service, does not imply that the client then has ownership of content, but simply access to it. The service provider as the author remains the owner of all content, which is protected by copyright.

Similarly, use of the service does not mean the client is entitled to request more than has been offered.

The purpose of the information featured is to make emerging ideas readable and provide food for thought. For an in-depth understanding of any topic discussed, please refer to the original authors of these concepts.

Conduct

At all times, the intention behind the service aims to follow a path of ethical conduct to promote a global nonviolent, enlightened and civilised society; clients have the right to be treated fairly and compassionately. Those who use the service or access content provided are also expected to conduct themselves this way.

In the event a service user’s behaviour is deemed unacceptable by the service provider, contact with that service user may be ceased.

The right to remove service users from the service, workshops or other platforms remains that of the service provider. The service provider’s decision is final and particularly in circumstances where behaviour is deemed unacceptable or harmful, an explanation is not owed or given.

Disclaimer regarding liability

The service provider shall not be liable for your misuse of information, nor have liability nor responsibility to anyone with respect to any loss or damage caused, or alleged to be caused, directly or indirectly by the information contained on this website or through emails, content, products and services provided (including podcasts). This website and its content (and those part of this portfolio) may only be of informational, entertainment and/or educational value.

Privacy

Any information obtained to perform the service is kept in accordance with GDPR regulations and kept privately, with the exception of the usual cookies and data collected from platforms where service users have not opted out. This means your information is not sold or passed on without your permission by the service provider, with the following exceptions:

  • it appears your health and wellbeing, or that of someone else, is at risk
  • you disclose an intention to, or already have, broken the law
  • behaviour constitutes harassment and/or abuse or other harmful activity

Disclosures and information received may be also discussed anonymously with a qualified supervisor, as required by ethical guidelines. Where insight regarding particular cases is used publicly (e.g. for educational purposes), the identifying characteristics of the individual will be usually disguised or merged with other cases to protect the identity of the individual.
